JGrass

Java Geographic Resources Analysis Support System

JGrass JGrass is a multi-platform and Open Source GIS (Geological Information System) dedicated to the environmental analysis, developed in collaboration with the CUDAM (University Center for the Mountain Environmental Defence) and Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the Trento University. JGrass allows the treatment of data both raster and vector, it was specifically developed to compute raster data needed for the hydro-geomorphologic analysis. Using JGrass, applications were developed to trace back the distributed environmental variables (as for example slopes, curvatures, stream network extraction and variables computation along the network, estraction of a basin afferent a certain closing section, flood computation and slope stability computation) starting from DTM and topographic maps. JGrass can be interfaced to proprietary GIS through special tools for importing and exporting data in various formats.

References: JGrass is used for educational purposes at the University of Trento. A JGrass personalization is presently used at the Trento SUAP for the extraction of hydrografic basins afferent any section of the district network and for the minimum subsistence runoff evalution.

SimAll

Advanced Environmental Simulations

SimAll SimAll is a full aplication to manage data and to elaborate hydrologic / hydraulic simulation results. SimAll integrates a GIS environment to visualize geographical data, a database to archive data and simulation results, and an environment to select and define parameters and the modality to execute hydrologic and hydraulic models. SimAll is based on JGrass to visualize data and results with spatial reference and can be connected to a central database or can use a locally installed support database. The allowed models can compute the flood in both maximum and minimum conditions for a selected hydrographic basin, they are distributed or semi-distributed models that simulate the various components of the hydrologic cycle (evaporation-transpiration, radiation, infiltration, surface and sub-surface runoff) starting from the data collected in field.
Beside the pure hydrologic models, there were integrated also natural and artificial basin analysis models and models for the analysis of the lateral outflow and inflow (natural and artificial) points, both allowing to simulate the flood propagation in the channels and hence to evaluate the water availability in every section and their capability to flood.

References: A first prototype of the above product is going to be released to the Adige River Basin Authority for the overall management of the Adige outfloods particularly in the minimun flood events.

FaMap

The Fast Mapper

FaMap FaMap is a tool that supports professional field data collection. Using FaMap it is possible to collect field data in digital format so that they can be used directly for computing purposes. The tool allows both to speed-up the data collection and to reduce the errors probability due to the data handling. FaMap is a tool to support the designer if there is the need, it hasn't the purpose to replace the classic data collection whereas it is the fastest and more practical way to integrate the real information into digital data. The product is targeted to the professionals who work in the environmental field and who need the verification, data collection and data updating directly from the field.
The application field ranges from geology and environmental engineering to ecology and tourism. One of the main product feature is the ease of use so that every non-technical person can use it to detect, for instance, paths or data in the ecological and forest field.

References: FaMap was used by HydroloGIS during the Schwachstelleanalyse to detect works in the Alto Adige rivers. It is also under test at the Earth Science Department of the Urbino University.

GisPublisher

Professional publishing of documentation related to geographical data

GisPublisher This is the only HydroloGIS product entirely dedicated to the data publishing.
GIS-Publisher is a software dedicated to the publishing of geographical data on DVD devices or similar. By means of this produt it is possible to release data and related information in several formats (pdf, presentations, text documents but also films and a variety of other documents) in one complete environment with a professional design, easy to consult also for the less expert users. The application includes also easy helps, search tools and, in case, internet connection.
GIS-Publisher is a fast and effective way to spread about the results of scientific researches, surveys, censuses and similar and can be personalized for the customer's needs and corporate design.

References: GIS-Publisher is used to spread about the data of the general plan for the public water in the Provincia of Trento.

Frontier Studies

Environmental analysis and engineering studies for advanced research

FrontierStudies HydroloGIS developes not only software but mainly it is committed in engineering applications where informatization is an essential support for the elaboration of project solution that take into account the environmental situation at 360 degrees. For these applications HydroloGIS offers consultancy and hydrologic and hydraulic design services, elaboration of special computing application tools in a GIS environment and elaboration of computations related to the Environmental Impact Evaluation.

References: Related to the above, HydroloGIS has performed for the Italian Foreign Office a feasibility study of hydraulic power stations in Tibet.
It has also been implemented for the Austrian Flight Management Service (AustoKontrol) a system to support the flights, through which it is possible to evaluate how many radars are visible from the sky, verify the routes and plan new actions to increase the flight safety.
