GIS and software development

Andrea Antonello

Andrea Antonello graduated in Environmental and Territorial Engineering at the University of Trento, he is studying for a PhD at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Urbino with the aim of developing a complete GIS application for the acquisition of geological data on site.

Specialized in software development, specialist programmer in C and Java, he gained his first professional experience at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Trento working on projects for the development of applications in a GIS framework.

He coordinates the Open Source JGrass project, and is a member of both the Project Steering Committee of Udig and the OpenMI Association Technical Committee.

Within HydroloGIS he is responsible for the software development and for the integration of different analysis modules.

Hydro-geomorphology

Silvia Franceschi

Silvia Franceschi graduated in Environmental and Territorial Engineering at the University of Trento, and in 2004 she gained a first level master in Project Management at the Department Mechanical Engineering at the University of Padova.

Specialized in hydrology, geomorphology and hydraulics, she worked at the Department Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Trento where she oversaw a series of projects to calculate the hydrologic balance of the Caldonazzo Lake and of the rivers flowing into the Venetian lagoon.

She contributed to the development of both distributed and semi-distributed hydrologic applications and in collaboration with the CUDAM she developed a model to calculate the maximum water discharge of a given basin. This model was applied to a basin in Liguria where it emerged that with previous calculations the discharge of the basin had been overestimated by 30%.

Within HydroloGIS she is responsible for the modelling and engineering design, as well as the project management.
